If you’re looking to treat shin splints, it’s important that you approach it from a few angles so that you can be sure that you not only recover from the current pain, but also prevent future pain down the road.

Nothing is more frustrating than going through the process to treat shin splints, only to later find out that while you recovered, the shin splints are back a few weeks later. Since this condition does tend to be chronic, unless you do take complete steps to treat shin splints, it’s very likely you will suffer from the program again at some point.

Here are the main steps you need to know.

Lay Off Exercise

When you first initially experience the pain, it’s important that you lay off exercise immediately. This may seem quite difficult, especially if you are a heavy runner who loves their mileage, but you really have to assess what you have to lose.

You could keep going, but at what price? Half-effort runs that lead you to pain? You’re far better off taking a week or two to rest then getting back to your runs at 100%.

Start Icing Immediately

Secondly, don’t make the mistake many people do and start applying heat to the shins. You only want to apply heat later on in the process to treat shin splints. Earlier on you should be focusing on applying ice, which will help take down the swelling and prevent further pain development.

Aim to ice at least three times a day for fifteen minutes per time.

Perform Shin Splint Exercises With Resistance Bands

Finally, you also need to make sure you are starting to implement some shin splint exercises as part of your program to treat shin splints. These will help to strengthen all the tendons and ligaments that surround the bone, making them better able to withstand the tension forces that may act upon them.

Using a resistance band is your best bet for these since it will be easier on the joints than doing weights, but still provide the resistance needed to actually strengthen the muscle.

So be sure you are keeping these points in mind. If you do want to successfully treat shin splints, it’s important you follow a proper plan. Otherwise this injury may keep coming back to nag you for years to come and you’ll constantly be forced to break from your workouts.

If you’ve been having some problems with shin splints lately, you’re probably on the hunt for what the causes of shin splints are so you can put an end to your pain forever.

Shin splints are a very aggravating injury since they will continue to nag at you for years, on and off, until you finally heal yourself and can continue on with your activities.

Unfortunately, many people are never able to fully heal themselves, so then it must be asked what they should be doing in order to obtain better results from their treatment program.

Here are some of the main causes of shin splints that you should know.

Poorly Padded Running Shoes

The first major cause of shin splints that often is the biggest reason people are in pain is because of poorly padded running shoes. If your runners are all worn out, each and every time you go out for a run you will experience a high level of stress on the knees and shin bones.

As time continues to progress on, eventually you’ll find that you are unable to even walk as the stress just becomes too great.

Luckily this is a simple fix however - all that you need to do is make sure you are tracking the total mileage on your shoes. Make a note of when first purchase your running shoes and then also note how many hours of running you do on them over time.

By tracking this you will know exactly when to change them out and get newer ones.

Not Enough Recovery

The second cause of shin splints is a failure to get enough recovery. Rest and recovery is vital to proper progress as well as injury prevention, so be sure to look after this.

Ideally you should have one or two days where you aren’t running at all, either doing another form of cardio exercise that is low impact in nature, or just resting completely.

Lack Of Shin Splint Stretches

Finally, the last cause of shin splints is never doing shin splint stretching exercises. These will loosen the ligaments and tendons that surround the shin bones so that there is less stress and tension on the bones each and every time you go out for a run.

When done properly, shin splint stretches should only take about ten minutes out of your day, so it’s not a huge time investment on your part, but will payoff quite significantly.

So keep these points in mind.

If you’re serious about getting over this injury, it’s time to get serious about your treatment program.

For more help with this, please see this review:

Figuring out some good stretching for shin splints exercises will be one of the key things you must do to recover from this problem. Many individuals will suffer from shin splints for an extended period of time, most commonly because they are not treating the shin splints properly.

While ice and rest is going to be vital immediately after the workout is finished and you’re in pain, performing stretching for shin splints regularly will be what helps you overcome the problem so you don’t have to deal with it again in the future.

Here are the main stretching for shin splints exercises to be aware of.

Standing Calf Stretch

The first stretch I would recommend doing is a standing calf stretch. This will be important for helping you not only decrease any tension in the calf muscle itself, but to also reduce the tension you feel surrounding the shin bone. Many people suffer from tight calves, especially if you’re on your feet for a better portion of the day, so doing this every few hours is a simple way to stop shin splints.

Simply stand next to a wall and then lean inwards with one foot propped up against it. This should allow you to feel that slight pull in the calf muscle - exactly what you’re going for with this exercise.

Toe Walks

Toe walks may not seem like much of a stretching for shin splints exercise, but they will help to work the tendons and ligaments surrounding the shin bone which will help ease the pain. To do these stand on your tip toes and then walk across the room. Once your done, walk regularly back to the other side and repeat the process all over again.

Toe Circles

Toe circles are a third stretching for shin splints movement that you can do even while you’re sitting at your desk at work. By doing toe circles on a regular basis you will help strengthen the ligaments surrounding the ankle bone, enhancing their strength so you’re better able to resist injury.

Rubber Band Extensions

Finally, to really give the shin ligaments a good workout, place a rubber band on the end of the foot and then attach it to something else - a post or nearby object. From there, flex the foot upwards towards the shin and repeat as many as ten to fifteen times before switching legs to the other side.

So be sure you’re keeping these stretching for shin splints exercises in mind. The more often you can do them on a regular basis the better your results will be and the reduced pain you will feel.

If you’ve been suffering from shin splints, you’re going to have to start performing some shin splint stretching exercises to put an end to this pain once and for all. Many people let this injury linger on way too long and when doing so, it can really hurt their total performance and ability to participate in the activities they enjoy.

The following are some easy shin splint stretching exercises that you should start doing on a more regular basis.

Foot Flexion and Dorsi Flexion

One stretch that will help to really losen the tendons and ligaments leading up to the shin bone is foot flexion and dorsi flexion. To perform this, simply place an elastic tubbing band around the top of the foot and then the other end of the tubbing around a solid object (some type of post or wrapped around a chair works well).

Once you’re in a position where the rope is fairly tight around the foot and the end point, then slowly begin to flex the toes towards the body. This is the flexion portion of the shin splint stretching exercise.

After you’re done with that, then you want to do the same thing only this time reversing were the rope is tied (most people will just hold the other end for this) so you’re pointing the toes instead.

The Towel Curl

The second shin splint stretching exercise is a towel curl. To do this one you simply place a somewhat rolled up towel under the foot and then scrunch the toes with the towel underneath. As you do this you’ll help to strengthen as well as losen all the tiny tendons in the foot, especially the arch, which can actually play quite a large role in the development of shin splints.

Standing Calf Stretch

Finally, no shin splint stretching exercises routine would be complete without doing a standing calf stretch. To perform this, simply stand in front of a wall a few feet away and then place your toes up so they are against the bottom of the wall.

Lean in towards the wall until you feel a slight pull in the calf muscle and then hold for a moment or two.

Once you’re done with one foot, switch sides and repeat on the next.

So be sure you’re making the time to regularly perform these easy shin splint stretching exercises. Doing them regularly can help you avoid suffering from this injury any longer.

More and more people are starting to suffer from shin splints after being active and as such, it’s vital that you start performing shin splint stretches regularly to help ease the pain.

Prevention is going to be the best treatment for not suffering from this devasting injury, so taking the time to stretch regularly can help prevent pain from happening.

Here are the main shin splint stretches you should start performing.

Calf Stretches

When the calf muscle becomes quite tight, that’s one thing that can definitely set off shin splint pain. In order to help losing this lower leg muscle and prevent shin splints then, make sure you’re performing calf stretches regularly. One good one to do is to stand off the edge of a step and slowly lower the heel off of it. Once you feel a tight stretch in the calf, hold for a few seconds and then switch legs.

Toe Circles

Performing simple toe circles is also a really good way to strengthen and stretch all the muscles and ligaments that surround the shin bone so this is another one you should take into consideration.

To perform these rotate the toe in one direction slowly, pointing it as much as possible. After you’re done one direction, then you should switch directions and repeat the process. Aim to complete 10 to 15 reps on each leg in each direction.

Side Leans

Finally, the third of the shin splint stretches to do regularly are side leans where you place one foot slightly behind the other. Then you want to lean in the opposite direction until you feel a deep stretch on the side of the leg by the shin bone.

This is also a very good one for anyone who is suffering from knee pain as when these ligaments start to get tense they can really set off serious and chronic pain.

So be sure you’re keeping these three shin splint stretches in mind regularly. The more often you perform them, the more you will reduce your risk of suffering from pain down the road.

When you’re suffering from shin splints, chances are you want to stop them as quickly as possible. There are a number of reasons that you could be suffering from shin splints, but pinpointing the best treatment method will help you recover quickly so you can get on with your training.

Here are some of the top methods you can use when you’re asking yourself, ‘how to stop shin splints quickly’.

Rest From The Activity

It’s likely someting that will feel very hard to do, but resting from the activity will really go a long ways towards helping you recover quickly. When in pain, you aren’t really going to get in all that great of quality workouts anyway, therefore taking time to recover is a smart move.

The sooner you can look after your shin splints, the less pain you’ll experience down the road.

Ice The Effected Shin Splint Area

Another issue that you will want to look at is making sure you are icing the affected area regularly. Ice it both after the run and then at other times during the day to help bring down inflammation.

Each time you ice it, leave the ice on for about 10-15 minutes.

Stretch Regularly

Stretching regularly will help to lose the muscles, tendons, and ligaments near the shin area, which is another way to help reduce the pain from shin splints.

Perform these stretches after you’ve been walking or sitting for an extended period of time, as this is when the area is most likely to become tight.

Perform Shin Splint Exercises

Last, you should think about performing some shin splint exercises as frequently as possible. These will help to strengthen the tendons and ligaments surrounding the area, increasing the strength for running. When these tendons are weak, that’s when you will have a higher chance of suffering from shin splints, so taking action to stop this is important.

So be sure you keep these points in mind as you go about treating your shin splints. The question of how to stop shin splints doesn’t have to be hard provided you have the right information on the treatment process.

If you’ve been suffering from shin splint pain, there’s no doubt that you’re likely experiencing quite a bit of frustration. Many individuals who are battling this injury often feel hopeless that there’s an end point in sight. Sometimes this pain can go on for years if you’re not aware of the proper treatment techniques that can help you overcome it, which is likely something you’d rather not think about.

Luckily, if you’re smart in how you go about trying to stop shin splint pain, you can successfully get over it and continue with your normal exercise that you enjoy.

Here are some top tips to help you stop shin splint pain.

Stretch Before And After Your Run

It’s going to be very important that you’re stretching both before and after your run because when the tiny muscles, tendons, and ligaments around the shin bone become tight, that’s when you’re going to notice a great deal more pain.

You don’t want to be overdoing the stretching beforehand since the muscles are still likely tight, but really focus on spending 10 minutes or so afterwards stretching out the lower leg and hip flexors while you’re at it.

Change Your Running Shoes

The second thing you need to do to stop shin splint pain is make sure you’re changing your running shoes regularly. Those who aren’t taking the time to do this often experience more wear and tear with their shoes, which can then lead to massive problems developing.

Once that cushioning system wears out, you need to get new shoes to support the body.

Perform Shin Splint Exercises Regularly

There are a number of shin splint exercises you can do regularly throughout the day to help manage shin splint pain and prevent your shin splints from getting worse. You want to remember to strengthen both the muscles that are located in front of the shin bone as well as muscles that are located on the back of the leg surrounding the knee (the hamstrings) and the calves as well.

All of these will come into play in making sure your shin splint pain resides.

Ice The Impacted Area

Finally, aim to ice the effected area at least once a day to help bring down any inflammation that may be present and also help with the pain. If you’re suffering from pain every time you run, you’ll probably want to bump this up to three or four times a day, in addition to immediately after the run takes place (If you are still able to run).

So make sure you’re keeping these tips in mind to help stop shin splint pain for good. It is a frustrating injury but with the right techniques one that you can say goodbye to for good.

For some people, they realize that they are suffering from shin splints right away. For others, it can be a problem that grows slowly over time, and it’s only when it gets to the point of taking them completely out of the activity that they enjoy where they finally sit up and take action.

Shin splints are a very debilitating injury and one that can cause you a great deal of pain and hardship. If you can understant what causes shin splints though, you’re one step closer to figuring out a solution.

Here are the main things to know.

Improper Running Shoes

Much to many people’s surprise, one of the biggest causes of shins plints is improperly fitting running shoes. If they are not made correctly for your food (especially if they have a bad arch), this will severely influence how you feel during your run.

Also, if you’re not in shoes that provide you with enough padding that too can cause problems, so it’s something that you want to be sure you’re looking at thoroughly.

Too Much Activity

Another common cause of shin splints is simply doing too much activity. If you have just stepped up your training and are now experiencing the pain, this is a good reason why. You may want to try backing off a bit and seeing if that improves the situation, although many times once the ‘damage has been done’, simply backing off is not going to be enough.

Better would be learning to recognize your body beforehand so you don’t overdo it in the first place.

Not Enough Muscular Strength

The third thing that can cause shin splint pain is not having enough muscular strength in the region surrounding the shins. This is a common factor for those who do very little weight training and are almost solely dedicated just to running.

Putting in some good strengthening exercises into your workout program is a great way to help yourself overcome this and get better results in terms of preventing shin splints in the future.

Poor Posture

Finally, the last thing that can cause shin splints over time is poor posture. Maintaining proper posture is going to keep the back in alignment and this can also help keep the hips upright so you don’t start to suffer from pain in the lower back, hips, and knee joints.

Practicing proper posture on a regular basis will help you get into the habit of running with proper posture as well, decreasing the risk that this causes you to start suffering from shin splints.

So be sure you’re keeping these factors in mind as you go about your runs. Stopping shin splints before they start is one of the best ways to remain pain free in the future and see good results from your training.

If you’re looking for a shin splints treatment method, it’s important that you approach it from a variety of angles to ensure that you’re getting maximum results from your efforts. Many people forget some of the most important factors that enable shin splints to heal fully, therefore causing the pain to return only a short while later.

Here are the main four things you should be concentrating on to treat shin splints effectively.

Stretching

The first step for treating your shin splints is performing stretching exercises regularly. If you’re not doing this, it’s much more likely that the entire area around the shin bone will become tight and tense, which is going to further cause irritation on a daily basis.

Be sure you are stretching both before and after your workouts, as well as at any point during the day when you feel tense.

Ice

Many people think that heat is the best way to help stop the pain, but this isn’t the case. Ice is actually a better method since it’s going to redue the swelling surrounding the area, and it’s that swelling that is usually causing the pain in the first place.

For this shin splint treatment to be effective, you should aim to ice the area for ten minute intervals a few times a day when pain is present.

Running Shoe Check

The third thing to pay attention to in order to help keep your shin splint pain under control is your running shoes. Most people would never think that their running shoes could actually be what’s causing them pain, but it can most certainly be an issue.

Make sure you find a good shin splint guide that will help you identify the key factors for what you must look for in order to determine if your shoes are the reason for your shin splint pain.

Shin Splint Exercises

Finally, the fourth component to any good shin splint treatment protocol is finding a solid set of exercises that will help to strengthen the muscle surrounding the area so that there is a lower risk that you start suffering from pain. Make sure that you’re doing a variety of different exercises since this will help make sure none of the surrounding muscles are left out and the whole area just grows stronger over time.

So, stop letting shin splints cause you pain. If you take the right treatment approach, you can easily overcome this injury so you’re able to get back to your usual workouts.

you can cure Your shin splints forever
and get back to performing the exercises
you enjoy completely pain-free….”

Shin splints are one of the most common injuries that happen in active people and can be the most frustrating of all. How many times have you thought you had finally cured this pain only to go out for a jog and find out it’s right back just as strong as it started?

I’ve always been very active during my life until I was diagnosed with shin splints. I was running over 30km’s a week at that point, training for my first half-marathon. Then one day I went out for what was supposed to be my normal long run, only it was cut short after about 10 minutes in. I remember that day so clearly - I was in so much pain I could hardly walk home.

Nothing is more devasting than a pain that just won’t seem to go away no matter what you’ve tried. I went to see doctors, I went to see physiotherapists, I went to see specialists - and yet, my shin splints wouldn’t stop. I’d have the odd run that was pain free, but it usually didn’t last long.

After feeling frustrated for what must have been at least 6 months straight, I started searching for new information that might be able to help me. I had to do something - I wanted to run and if I didn’t try something new, this cycle would just keep on repeating itself. I had already suffered off and on for 5 years, how much longer was I really going to keep dealing with shin splints?

That’s when I came across Shin Splints No More. At first I was just like you are probably right now - a little hesistant. I figured, what new information could I really find in this book that I hadn’t read elsewhere? Why should I try this?

But let me tell you, I’m really happy I did give it that chance because within weeks I was back out running again - almost entirely pain-free. It took a full month until I was fully confident I was done forever with shin splints, but I was feeling better within a week’s time after implementing some of the information I read in this book.

If you’re currently suffering from shin splints and in pain, you have to try something different. Do you really want to continue on experiencing the same type of disappointment you already have - treatments that don’t work? Exercises that make no difference? Runs that have been stopped prematurely despite you taking pain-killers to stop the pain?

Some of the key things I learned while reading Shin Splints No More include:

How to quickly look at your shoes and find out if they could be causing you shin splints (this is something that they failed to tell me at the running store I purchased my shoes - what a difference!)

Why a very small muscular imbalance in one of your legs could be the entire cause of the pain and a very simple way to treat this in only 5 minutes twice a week

The main three things you must do immediately after experiencing the pain in order to increase the healing process by up to 200% - after using these techniques the first week I was pain free within a few days time

A wide variety of different exercises that will help to strengthen the shin bone and all the muscles that surround it - I did not learn these from physio

What I Liked Best About Shin Splints No More

Obviously learning all of the above was incredibly helpful, but one thing I really liked about this book that made it so much better than what I had read before is the complete library of videos that demonstrated exactly what I had to do to get better.

If you’re someone who is looking to get better fast and doesn’t want to do a lot of reading, you won’t have to. Just watch the videos and start using the tricks described and you’ll notice results fast.

If you are someone who wants to read though, the book was super easy to follow and understand without any special medical terminology, so it shouldn’t take long to get through at all. I spent a few hours one afternoon going through it and after that, I had all the information I needed to start treating my shin splints properly.

The Drawback To Shin Splints No More

Since everything in life does have a drawback, the one thing I would mention about this book is that if you feel as though you have a stress fracture or something very deep bone related, you will need to see your doctor about this. The book covers all the details on regular shin splints, but when you’ve let it get so far that there is actually a bone fracture, you’ll need medical treatment as well.

Not to say you can’t use the exercises and information in Shin Splints No More to help prevent the pain from developing again, just that it in itself will not be enough.

Final Words….

So in closing, I just want to say that I do hope you give it a chance. Shin splints were so incredibly frustrating for me and I know what you’re going through. I’d love to help you get rid of your shin splints faster that I did (I suffered for 5 years!) which is why I’m suggesting this book.

It worked for me and I’m more than confident it will help you too. If you aren’t satisfied, there’s a full money back gaurantee, so it’s pretty much risk-free.

If you’re tired of:

Shin Pain

Short Runs

Frustration

Lack Of Results From Treatment

…then it’s time to take a step in the right direction that will change these things.

Click Here for Shin Splints No More
